Have you ever wanted to read a book where you wanted to know about the dark side of New York City?
Nathan Seven Scott’s book, My Turn, is about star reporter Courtney R. Knight, who lands the opportunity of a lifetime to head the social media division at a high-profile media firm. However, drama, mystery and murder unfold when he gets caught up in a whirlwind of high intrigue between rival moguls, a jealous ex-lover and a host of colorful characters amidst the electrifying backdrop of NYC.
There are a few controversial topics covered by Scott. There are some characters that are down low, which sadly continues to live among us. The book also contains divas, rich people, highly educated people, clubs, sex killings, etc. It’s like reading the ultimate soap opera. Some scenes might even give you a possible erection.
It’s a thriller that has a spin in every page. Knight is all over the place in this novel. I traveled everywhere with him and loved everything that he experienced. It still surprises me that this is Scott’s debut novel. It’s so wonderfully crafted and each chapter is so breathtaking. When you read this book, you truly find yourself on a journey with Knight from D.C. to the streets of New York City. It’s a huge tailspin on the rich and powerful.
Knight is an amazing character to follow. He is so vulnerable, and yet so complex. Here is a highly educated African American who knows himself and truly does his homework. Once he finally gets opportunities coming his way, there are moments where you want to root for him, and sometimes expect him to get caught down the line. It’s a crazy character that you just can’t resist.
