Porn Stars Are Now Legally Required To Use Condoms

Actors starring in adult films will be legally required to wear condoms under an ordinate that was just signed into law in Los Angeles. The law was signed Monday by Antonio Villaraigosa and will take effect in 41 days after being posted by the city clerk, which will happen as early as this week.

Officials with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation have waited a long time for law to take effect, especially in locations like Los Angeles where 90 percent of the porn industry takes place. Now that a law like this has been created, they’ve expressed jubilation.

“The city of Los Angeles has done the right thing,” said Michael Weinstein, president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “They’ve done the right thing for the performers.”

He said its adoption is crucial in protecting adult film actors from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Due to the fact that this industry is visually not raising awareness and continues to promote films that show the actors performing unprotected sex, Michael along with everyone is ecstatic that a law like this is becoming reality.

However, this law didn’t appeal to some of the biggest porn industry leaders. Some of the filmmakers are expressing interest in moving just outside of the county. The industry already requires that actors be tested for HIV every 30 days, and filmmakers say they believe that is sufficient.

Exactly how the law will be enforced is still to be determined. Violations of the law would be hard to hide because these new “unlawful” actions would be caught on camera.

“It’s not that I don’t doubt the sincerity of their desire to protect the talent. And believe it or not, we have the same ambition,” Christian Mann, general manager of Evil Angel Productions, said last week after the council’s vote. “We just don’t believe their way is the best way,” added Mann, who is also on the board of directors of the industry trade group the Free Speech Coalition.

Weinstein, advocate of this law, is hoping to expand the law and that this was just the starting point. If this law continues, the porn industry will definitely go into another direction, whether it’s positive or negative.

Do you think government should enforce this law? How do you think this will change the industry?

I like this post. Short, direct and no bias.
But its all acting I think ppl get too involved b/c for some reason they believe they have a chance with these actors in real life.
Protect yourself first… In real life.

I think that this “law” is bullshit (excuse my french)! I, personally, HATE porn with condoms. It kills my horny! It’s like you NEVER see where the condom comes from or when it’s put on so it makes me feel that there’s a lot of editing going on (which we all know that there is but it’s my fantasy damnit) and it also makes me think that the “actors” had to think about.. “well, let me get this condom” and it messes up the entire flow.

I’m all about safe sex, just not in my porn. Hell, to be honest with you, they could all have HIV, I don’t care, I ain’t f ckin dem. They just get me hard enough to bust this nut & I cut dem off like the rest of these fools.

Where’s the petition to do away with this law? I’m gettin’ sick of the government. First, they try to take away my illegal music downloads & now they’re trying to control how I get my nut… this has GOT TO STOP!
