Seems like YMCMB is clique to be reckoned with- or that’s the motto. After recently signing Christina Milian, Busta Rhymes and Mystikal, the famed hip-hop label has now added Limp Bizkit to its roster.
The blogs and Twitter are abuzz with comments after news was released that Lil Wayne called into “Kissing After Dark” on New York’s 98.7 Kiss FM, the R&B radio station he listened to while serving time at Rikers Island in 2010, where he announced the rock band’s affiliation with Cash Money Records.
Lil Wayne even commented on his ever-growing music family:
“Every other day I find out someone new signs with Cash Money. For example, the other day I found out Limp Bizkit signed to Cash Money, so they’re signing everybody. Everybody’s getting a chance.”
Lil Wayne also revealed that the YMCMB army is also working with Ashanti. Ashanti is rumored to be working with Busta Rhymes on his latest project. Perhaps we can see Ashanti being added to the label soon too.
“We dominate rap, but we need to dominate R&B. We need to dominate pop, gospel, country – we’re a brand, so we should be able to put out all these different types of music,” label CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams recently told Billboard for their Power 100 issue.
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst later confirmed the news in a series of tweets to his 1.5 million followers, ranging from a simple declaration like “Believe” to more involved missives (for 140 characters) like, “The game is missing danger, electricity, and rock n roll!!!! Cash Money Limp Bizkit”
With a diverse roster compromised of versatile talent like singer Jay Sean, keyboardist/vocalist PJ Morton, and now Limp Bizkit, the Cash Money label is definitely expanding their brand.
