If you thought Bishop Eddie Long was going to quietly fade into church sex scandal history, think again. In the following video, Long is given an impromptu bat mitzvah by a man who is probably not even a rabbi.

Coming from someone who has not stepped into a church since Michael Jackson was alive, I know I am not the best person to critique Long’s actions, but that does not take away the fact that Long and his congregation need to reassess their “walk” with God.

First, Long is not a king. Not the king of the Jews, the king of Atlanta, the king of lace fronts…Simba is more of a king than Long will every be. Second, God is pretty strict about the whole serving two masters thing. How can you call yourself a Christian yet prescribe to Jewish traditions? Third, Long has not learned one thing from his previous actions. His private school is closing, yet he is too busy being hoisted up and engulfed by a fake scroll to care. Hubris.

No matter how much blame we assign to Long, his foolish actions could not have been without the help of his followers. They are the ones who continue to put money in his coffers and applaud and exalt his behavior.
