New York City Nannies Are Paid Six-Figure Salaries, Plus Bonus And Allowance

Most people don’t like being babysitters. No matter how old you are, you find being a babysitter or a nanny to be a pain in the butt. But what happens when you find out this job actually leads to a huge paycheck.

According to The New York Times, most nannies in The Big Apple receive a salary of $180,000 a year, including a bonus and allowance.  There is even a say that if the economy become more robust, the price of a good nanny may only go up. That’s because there are so few experienced nannies willing to forgo other plans to be available at all times to take care of New York’s wealthiest children that they can command a high price.

There are a lot of millionaires living in The Big Apple. So it was somewhat predicted that these numbers would come up.

Even though these numbers are outstanding, it looks like America’s super-wealthy still falls in comparison to their counterparts around the world when it comes to nanny salaries. A British staffing agency said that one of their Russian clients used a $200,000 salary offer to poach a nanny from another family, according to an August report from the Times of London. That’s more than double London’s typical salary for a nanny of $75,000.

When it comes to a job that most people wouldn’t do, it looks like these nannies are laughing and crying all the way to the bank.
