After we first saw VIBE magazine’s latest cover crowning Kandi Burrus, Tamar Braxton, Evelyn Lozada and Chrissy Lampkin as the new and improved role models, we wondered what this issue would look like if it was dedicated to black gay men featured on some of our favorite reality television shows.
In spite of those who watch, pretending they don’t watch, reality television has become not just a major part of programming but a major part of our culture; so huge that we become indulged with conversations incorporating these shows that extend beyond the couch. We talk, text and tweet by engaging in discussion of what we deem is right that contrast to our “reality.”
So we’ve decided to curate a list mimicking the efforts of VIBE magazine. So we ask, are these our new black gay role models from reality television?
