There has been much talk in the media about companies and their support for anti-gay organizations. Companies have been notorious for donating tons of money to organizations against same-sex marriage. The more educated we become, the more we can understand where our dollars go. But the power still remains with us- the consumers. Even though there are some companies out there that support anti-gay groups, let’s not forget about companies like Oreo, J.C. Penney and American Apparel that help support the LGBT community through various campaigns, advertisings and fundraisers. PolicyMic recently put together a list of anti-gay companies that we should reconsider supporting.
Check out some of the list below:
Chick-fil-a

“According to Equality Matters, Chick-Fil-A donated almost $2 million to anti-gay organizations in 2010, including over $1,100,000 to the Marriage & Family Foundation, an organization that Chick-Fil-A Vice President Donald “Bubba” Cathy actually founded. The company’s WinShape Foundation, their charitable arm, has a long history of donation to such groups, but appears to have upped the ante in recent years, as they donated a total of $3 million between 2003 and 2009. That’s a lot of chicken sandwiches.”
