Daniels’ films are known to push the envelope in every direction; from a murder-for-hire interracial stepmother and stepson in 2005′s Shadowboxer, to a sordid, incestuous mother and daughter in 2009′s Precious, Daniels has never been one to back away from a controversial script, but instead rises to the challenge and brings it to life in a way that audiences can sympathize with the film’s protagonist and antagonist (i.e., Mo’Nique’s chilling portrayal of Mary Jones), and appreciate the artistic value of storytelling. Daniels has been with his partner, Andy Sforzini, since 2009.
