Are We Watching? ‘Don’t Sleep!,’ BET Late Night Series With T.J. Holmes
When T.J. Holmes announced he was leaving CNN for a job with BET, many critics wondered would this be a good career move for the award-winning broadcast journalist. Now the project seems to be full steam ahead with plugs and commercials introducing Holmes to the network.
Earlier today, BET Network announced that the debut of the show “Don’t Sleep!” featuring Holmes will air on Monday, October 11 from 11:00-11:30 p.m. Holmes is aimed to deliver issues that affect the black community by adding his witty social commentary. Holmes plans to tackles headlines and viral stories mainstream means tends to ignore.
The show will run Monday-Thursday. BET also revealed that the show would be infused with a team of correspondents injecting perspective, humor and commentary about a wide range of topics.
For those worried about production variables, the network also released information about the team helping bring the concept to life: Holmes will be joined by executive producers Madeleine Smithberg and Sarah North of Mad Cow Productions, which will produce the late night strip for BET audiences. Smithberg, an Emmy and Peabody award-winning producer, is the co-creator and former showrunner of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, producing more than 1100 episodes for the Emmy-award winning series.
