Watch This: Morehouse College Students Rally for Spirit Day
Many supporters created videos and even turned to social media for Spirit Day, last week. Spirit Day is annual day in October when millions of Americans wear purple to speak out against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
Morehouse College Safe Space, Morehouse’s Gay Straight Alliance and Student Advocacy Organization, created a video in support of Spirit Day. The historically black university/college is no stranger when it comes to issues surrounding sexuality. Due to the long history and strict policies black hetero-normative men have followed since the school opened, a new generation of thinkers are more vocal about the treatment for gay, bisexual men on campus. Even with the viral campaigns such as the new dress code and even ‘Mean Girls of Morehouse’ expose featured in VIBE, the college should be proud a video like this captures the tolerance needed for students.
